Can you tell me how to get to Sesame Street?
I always enjoy a good out-of-left field “news” story. On Wednesday, I happened to come across the Katy Perry video she made with everyone’s favorite little red monster Elmo for the children’s television show Sesame Street. The video is a cute remake of her hit song from last year “Hot N Cold.”
On Thursday afternoon the “news” came out that Sesame Street had decided to remove the video from an upcoming show, though it can still be found on-line, because of viewer complaints regarding the top she choose to wear for the video. The busty 25-year-old wore a gold bustier with a mesh neckline, which was both youthful and playful, but perhaps a tad lacking in opaque material for a girl of her endowment.
I don’t think you could accuse her of looking overly sexy, though I do recall thinking it was not the attire you typically see on Sesame Street (if you don’t count some of Miss Piggy’s more risqué outfits to attract Kermit). If you notice, the top she’s wearing is very similar to the top she had in the original version of the “Hot N Cold” video.
I wonder, when they were filming, did no one else on the set think to say, “Um, Ms. Perry, do you have anything with a slightly higher neck line?” In this world of 21st century marketing, I suspect her management team decided on her attire with the idea of maintaining the “Katy Perry brand,” while promoting her current album “California Gurls.” It’s also possible, that the mesh looked more opaque in the flesh, pardon the pun, as opposed to under hot lights.
Perry’s fiancé and comedian Russell Brand had the best tweet of the day following the “news” that she was bounced from the program, “@katyperry today’s Sesame Street will NOT be brought to you by the number 34 or the letter D.”
